Grandmama stands about 12.5” x 5” x 3.5” in mixed mediums, including Japanese air-dry clay, CosClay polymer clay, mulberry papers and acrylic paints and inks. Her bones are aluminum and stainless steel wire with brass rods. She was inspired by a long love of Hieronymus Bosch’s astonishing world, with its hybrid creatures and strange musical instruments. I loved them as a child, and ever since… My artist mother had a tiny book of his work, and I fell for it hard! I loved is his frequent use of owls, an of course the strange ways he combines lifeforms. A small play with those thoughts, below:
