Celebrating the Crone...
This is the face of my first “art doll,” circa 1999. She was inspired by an image of a Kosovar refugee -- not a precise likeness, but an echo of an unforgettable face. This doll now dwells in Tel Aviv.
Technical note: her head, arms and legs were sculpted in Classic Fimo. Her eyes are sculpted in situ and painted, then given a high gloss with an acrylic varnish. I used acrylics to tone her skin and accentuate her wrinkles. Her body was in Creative Paperclay (see my source list at right - oops! at LEFT). Seated, she measured about 13 inches (the above image being greatly enlarged). Below, her feet:
